Habilitation

Procedure

To promote schientific young researchers the faculty gives the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to independently research and education through a habilitation thesis and a scientific colloquium. Prerequisite for habilitation is a doctoral degree in agricultural sciences, nutritional sciences or an equivalent qualification. The habilitation thesis is based on own investigations of the applicant and has to bring new scientific knowledge.


For the assessment of the habilitation thesis the Faculty Convention elects a habilitation committee under the chairmanship of the Dean. At least four professors are nominated as experts. Because of their advice the Faculty Convention accepts or rejects the habilitation thesis.

The colloquium follows the adoption of the thesis. It consists of a scientific presentation followed by a debate that extends to the whole subject for which the thesis is submitted. With the trial presentation should an applicant demonstrate that he / she is able to present a scientific facts of his / her subject in a concise manner and to represent. The presentation will not come from the area of dissertation. If the oral habilitation services is adopted by the Habilitation Committee, the habilitation process is successfully completed.

The habilitation certificate is certifying the qualification for the subject in which the Habilitation was made, and gives the right to add the prefix 'habilitatus' ('hab.') to the doctoral degree. At the request of the candidate the Senate of the University issued the right to teach (Venia legendi) with the right to use the academic title 'lecturer(Priv. - Doz).
